Doug Cullen, MHC-LP

Psychotherapist

I believe that each one of us is already fundamentally whole, and that psychotherapy can help us develop awareness of the obstacles to living fully that we otherwise might not have known were there. I’ll work with you to help you explore what might be creating conflict in your life, whether it be negative self-image, past trauma or significant loss, a sense of disconnectedness and unease, or the struggle to live the life you envision for yourself.

I have worked with traumatized youth in a foster care setting, as well as with young adults developing a sense of self esteem, struggling with substance abuse, or learning to sustainably co-exist in fulfilling interpersonal relationships. I’m particularly passionate about bridging eastern and western modalities of healing – from the advancing fields of neuroplasticity (the ability our brains have to continuously re-organize neural networks) to the ancient practice of mindfulness utilized to investigate the very nature of our reality. As a licensed massage therapist for the past 20 years, and now a Mental Health Counselor, I hope to offer you helpful insights into the ways in which difficult emotions and unexpressed grieving may be stored in the body and expressed as otherwise unexplainable physical symptoms such as fatigue or lowered immunity.

I’m looking forward to learning about who you are, what you’ve been through, and working together to help you step towards becoming your truest self.
