Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. For many people, online therapy is as effective as in-person care for treating anxiety and other challenges. It allows you to access support from home or work, which can make it easier to show up consistently and practice tools in real time, in the environment where your anxiety actually lives. We use approaches that translate well to video, like CBT, emotionally focused work, and mind/ body-based strategies, so sessions feel engaging and personal.
-
We work with a wide range of anxiety experiences, including chronic worry and overthinking, social anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, performance or work-related anxiety, and anxiety connected to trauma, identity, and life transitions. Some clients feel “on” all the time and can’t switch off; others feel sudden spikes of panic or dread that seem to come out of nowhere. Together, we’ll get specific about how anxiety shows up for you so your therapy is tailored to your patterns, history, and current life.
-
We’re in-network with certain insurance plans (Aetna, Cigna, Wellfleet, Northwell Direct and Meritain Health) and we may be able to help you use out-of-network benefits as well. Coverage and costs vary, so we’ll walk you through your options before you begin. Our team is happy to talk through fees, payment options, and what using insurance here would look like so there are no surprises. We also offer sliding scale options for those who qualify when paying out-of-pocket.
-
The first session is a time for you and your therapist to get to know one another. Your therapist may ask questions about your past and current relationships. They may explore the present, your work, health, social life, family relationships, hobbies, etc. They will listen to what’s hard, what hurts, or what gets in the way of you living your best life. Usually this session is an important time to try and understand the reason you seek therapy. The first meeting is also a good time to go over any questions you have about your therapist or the process.
-
You don’t have to be in crisis for therapy to be worthwhile. Therapy may be right for you if anxiety, stress, or recurring patterns in relationships are starting to affect your sleep, mood, work, or sense of yourself or if you simply want more clarity and ease in your life. A consultation is a low-pressure way to explore fit: you can ask questions, share a bit about what you’re noticing, and get a sense of whether a particular therapist and approach feel like a good match. When it doesn’t, we readily help you explore other options. We have a diverse team of professionals to ensure all clients can find their ideal clinician!
-
Yes. At The Therapy Collective, finding the right clinical fit is one of our highest priorities. We encourage you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation with one or more clinicians so you can get a feel for their approach, ask questions, and decide who may be the best fit for your needs.
Once you submit our inquiry form, our team will guide you through this process. If you decide after a consultation that you'd like to explore a different style or specialty, our reception team will help you pivot smoothly. Our Clinical Director is also here to support you every step of the way.
