With Grief…
-

Grief is a quiet ache that threads its way through the most ordinary moments of your day
-

Even simple tasks take more energy than they used to, and rest is not always restorative.
-

Grief may show up as numbness, anger, guilt, exhaustion, anxiety, loneliness, difficulty concentrating, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. There is no single timeline or “right” way to grieve.
-

You hold it together for work, family, or others, while privately carrying more than people may see.
-

You find yourself replaying “what if” moments or wondering whether you could have done something differently.
-

You have pulled back from others, or worry that talking about your loss will be too much for the people around you.
WHAT SETS US APART
A relational, personalized approach to therapy for grief
At The Therapy Collective, we believe grief deserves a safe, trusting space where you do not have to carry it alone. Your therapist will work with you to understand how loss is affecting your emotions, relationships, body, and daily life, without rushing you to move on or expecting you to grieve in any particular way.
We tailor therapy to your unique needs, drawing from evidence-based and mind-body approaches to help you make room for what you are feeling, honor what has changed, and find steadier ground as you move through this time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Telehealth can be a highly effective form of therapy for grief, with the added benefit of bringing high-quality care directly into the comfort and privacy of your own space. Our approach to therapy is deeply relational and integrative. We take pride in cultivating clinicians who are highly skilled at creating real, warm, and compassionate connections, ensuring you feel truly supported in a virtual setting. Rather than relying on a single method, we blend insight-oriented therapy with practical, evidence-based tools—including mind-body/somatic approaches, CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma-informed care—tailored to your unique needs. Virtual sessions remain highly personal and collaborative, giving you the space to understand what you are carrying, reconnect with your goals, and build sustainable support for daily life.

We support people grieving many kinds of loss, including the death of a partner, family member, friend, or beloved pet. We also work with grief connected to the end of a relationship, infertility or pregnancy loss, changes in health or ability, caregiving, job loss, relocation, estrangement, identity shifts, and the loss of a future you had imagined.
Grief does not always look like sadness. It may show up as numbness, anger, guilt, exhaustion, anxiety, loneliness, difficulty concentrating, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. There is no single timeline or “right” way to grieve. We tailor therapy to your experience and offer a supportive space to process what has changed at a pace that feels manageable.

We’re in-network with certain insurance plans (Aetna, Cigna, Wellfleet, Northwell Direct and Meritain Health) and we may be able to help you use out-of-network benefits as well. Coverage and costs vary, so we’ll walk you through your options before you begin. Our team is happy to talk through fees, payment options, and what using insurance here would look like so there are no surprises. We also offer sliding scale options for those who qualify when paying out-of-pocket.

The first session is a time for you and your therapist to get to know one another. Your therapist may ask questions about your past and current relationships. They may explore the present, your work, health, social life, family relationships, hobbies, etc. They will listen to what’s hard, what hurts, or what gets in the way of you living your best life. Usually this session is an important time to try and understand the reason you seek therapy. The first meeting is also a good time to go over any questions you have about your therapist or the process.
-
You don’t have to be in crisis for therapy to be worthwhile. Therapy may be right for you if depression, anxiety, stress, or recurring patterns in relationships are starting to affect your sleep, mood, work, or sense of yourself or if you simply want more clarity and ease in your life. A consultation is a low-pressure way to explore fit: you can ask questions, share a bit about what you’re noticing, and get a sense of whether a particular therapist and approach feel like a good match. When it doesn’t, we readily help you explore other options. We have a diverse team of professionals to ensure all clients can find their ideal clinician!
-
Yes. At The Therapy Collective, finding the right clinical fit is one of our highest priorities. We encourage you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation with one or more clinicians so you can get a feel for their approach, ask questions, and decide who may be the best fit for your needs.
After you submit the inquiry form, our coordinator will reach out to help guide the process. If, after your initial consultation, you do not feel the clinician is the right match, please let the coordinator know. Our Clinical Director is also available to help identify another therapist within the collective who may better support you.
